Rapid response and coordinated technical support
Emergency Repairs
A mechanical failure or damage to the hull can interrupt a voyage, lead to vessel downtime and disrupt operations. Before repairs can begin, the issue needs to be assessed, access arranged and the right technical resources brought together.
Based in Fort-de-France, in the Caribbean, Martinique Shipyard supports shipowners and crews facing unplanned repair requirements. Our teams and specialist partners bring together the technical expertise and resources needed on a single site, coordinating the work according to the vessel’s condition and the scope of repairs.
Our repair capabilities
Depending on the nature of the failure or damage, our teams and specialist partners can intervene on:
• Engines, pumps and auxiliary equipment
• Propellers, shaft lines, rudders, thrusters and stabilisers
• Electrical and hydraulic systems
• Piping and associated equipment
• Hull plating and structural damage
• Steel fabrication and welding
Repairs can be organised afloat alongside the quay or in our 190 m dry dock, depending on the scope, access requirements and facility availability.
Multiple technical disciplines coordinated around one project
An unexpected failure may affect several vessel systems. Identifying the cause, dismantling equipment and organising repairs can require several technical disciplines to work together.
A dedicated project manager coordinates diagnostics and repairs between the shipowner, crew, yard teams and specialist companies. Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, piping, hull and structural works can be coordinated on the same site, with lifting arrangements and spare parts requirements integrated into a shared schedule.
This approach helps streamline the repair process and minimise vessel downtime.
Technical and logistics resources on site
A repair may take place on board or require equipment to be removed and brought into the workshop.
Martinique Shipyard provides a 200 m dry dock, 350 m of quay and a 750 m² mechanical workshop, together with lifting and handling resources.
The shipyard can also support project logistics, including reception of containers and spare parts, heavy lifting and handling, customs and transit assistance, and express air or sea freight arrangements.
A repair option within a Carribbean
When a vessel needs an unplanned repair, the distance to a suitable facility becomes part of the decision.
Located in Fort-de-France, Martinique Shipyard offers a regional option for vessels operating in the Caribbean. Depending on the vessel’s position and the work required, repairs in Martinique can help limit diversions to more distant shipyards.
The shipyard is also just 10 km from Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport, facilitating access for specialist technicians and crew.
Tell us what happened?
Send us your vessel’s current position, main specifications and a description of the failure or damage.
Photographs, drawings, equipment references and any initial findings will help our team assess the requirements and discuss the next steps with you.
