Technical Refit of the Naval Vessel Le Ventôse at Martinique Shipyard

For over two months, Martinique Shipyard teams carried out a major technical refit on *Le Ventôse* (F733), a *Floréal*-class surveillance frigate of the French Navy.
Commissioned in 1993 and based in Fort-de-France, *Le Ventôse* performs essential missions in the Antilles-French Guiana zone: maritime surveillance, combating illicit trafficking, search and rescue operations at sea, and providing aid to populations during natural disasters.

A Major Project

This refit project spanned more than two months, mobilizing nearly 150 people and accounting for approximately 40,000 man-hours. Martinique Shipyard teams coordinated various trades to ensure operations ran smoothly while meeting the requirements of the Fleet Support Service (SSF)—the authority responsible for maintaining the operational readiness of the vessels.

Diverse Technical Operations

The work performed covered several areas of expertise:

Mechanical inspections, including measuring clearances for rudders and propeller shafts, as well as repairs to the stabilizer following a malfunction.
Replacement of an obsolete diesel fuel separation system.
Cleaning and repainting of bilges, engine rooms, and auxiliary compartments.
Anti-corrosion treatment for submerged and non-submerged sections of the hull, superstructures, and masts.
Boilermaking, sheet metal work, piping, and scaffolding installation to facilitate the various maintenance operations.

Recognized expertise in naval maintenance

This maintenance period demonstrates Martinique Shipyard’s ability to carry out complex maintenance operations on military vessels, coordinating diverse areas of expertise and multiple partners while meeting stringent technical requirements.

The success of this project also relied on the mobilization of numerous partner companies—including Chantiers de l’Atlantique, Neotech, SNEF, Naval Group, Abers Metal, Archinet, E-Compagnie, Topec, Leca, ESTC, SIPA, Sud Moteurs, and Nanfourma—as well as the commitment of the Martinique Shipyard teams and the sailors of the French Navy.
