Supporting your vessel through every stage of
Class Surveys
Preparing your vessel for inspection, coordinating the work that follows
A class survey can require access to the underwater hull, equipment to be opened and components to be dismantled. Preparing these operations is part of organising the vessel’s yard stay.
Martinique Shipyard welcomes vessels for periodic class surveys, bringing together the facilities, technical teams and specialist services required. A dedicated project manager coordinates preparation and repair works with the shipowner, crew
and the vessel’s classification society, including Lloyd’s Register, Bureau Veritas, ABS, RINA and DNV.
Our capabilities
Depending on the survey scope, our teams and specialist partners can provide:
• Vessel and equipment preparation for inspection
• Dry-docking and vessel blocking
• Opening and dismantling of equipment
• Technical assistance during surveys
• Checks and measurements, using specialist or approved companies where required
• Non-destructive testing (NDT), through approved companies
• Hull and structural repairs
• Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and piping works
• Repairs arising from survey findings
• Equipment reassembly and preparation for return to service
From survey findings to repairs works
An inspection may identify areas requiring further investigation or repair. The findings then need to be translated into a scope of work, with the necessary trades and specialist services brought together.
Martinique Shipyard coordinates these interventions with the shipowner and the attending class surveyor, according to the applicable class requirements.
Having several technical disciplines on the same site helps organise additional works within the vessel’s yard stay.
Survey, maintenance & Repairs in one schedule
A class survey often takes place alongside planned maintenance. Hull inspections, equipment servicing and repairs need to be sequenced so that the vessel and its systems are ready when required.
A dedicated project manager brings these operations into a shared schedule, coordinating access, dismantling, inspections and reassembly with the crew, technical teams and attending surveyors.
The objective is to complete the agreed works and required survey stages while keeping vessel downtime under control.
